The Maldives National Defence Force will be a gallant and capable force, competent to serve as the people’s shield without fear or hesitance, while protecting and defending the independence and sovereignty of the Republic of Maldives and safeguarding her Constitution. Our seas, and the natural resources contained within will be protected and well guarded. The Force will be capable of rescuing people and minimizing the damage caused to their belongings in the event of fires, natural disasters and other such tragedies. A daring and capable elite force will be ready on standby to face and overcome risky situations such as hijacks and hostage-takings. The Force will be highly trained in the necessary fields, and serve with sincerity and honour in the patriotic spirit, gaining much inspiration through fellow citizens’ affection and faith in them. The operational procedures of the Force will be in tandem with, and appropriate for the structure of such a defence force.
